What's the best WW2 Shooter Game/Mod?

FPS wise, I would say Day of Defeat. Its just such a great game.

RTS wise, it would be Soldiers: Heroes of WWII, probably one of the most realistic real-time WWII games, and I just loved the direct control ability, especially when you are in a Tiger!

My favorite is Forgotten Hope(BF1942), eventhough I haven't even played it yet :D

My favorite 2 is Day of Defeat, because Red Orchestra is kinda boring because there are never enough players.

Hmmm... this is a hard one.

On one had there is DoD, which I had alot of fun playing.
And on the other hand there is CoD, which is the game I play(online) the most.

And then there is H&D2, which doesn't get nearly enough publicity, IMO. Had alot of fun with that game...

Gah, so many choices!

I voted for none of them.

My favourite shooter is TTR 1.2/1.3 (ut99 engine). Its pretty dead right now but the TTR dev team are working on a new version build on the Torque engine.

But I think 1944 D-Day has a big chance of becoming my favourite.. its pretty much the game I dreamed off. Ultimate Realism. :D

So make my dream come true dev team ;)

DoD is the one I play the most
Its pretty good
I mean it doesnt compare graphically with the rest but it has good gameplay and Kustom Kettle has a good community so it is my favorite

Of course, BiA isn't far behind, they really got the basic tactics done right, the effects as well, not to mention that it's based on airphotos and maps. However, it's a bit too unrealistic, and MP sucks - "Schoot thsem!"

Soldiers was indeed great, the amount of realistic damage you could do was pure enjoyment. But it uses Starforce 3 (copy protection) which messes with my CD drivers, which I don't like, and the realism was limited to the physical side.

COD is my Fav. I love IS......and it lasted me 2+ years of entertainment. Im really looking forward to Mods mainly right now.

ww2 online is pretty damn cool, especially if you want realism. its massively multiplayer ww2= huge battles. its like planetside meets ww2 except everyone swtarts as private and works up for new weapons an d stuff

i said cod, cos the singleplayer was good apart from the russian campaign. buyt ive been playing dod for countless years :D dod is the best ww2 online at the mo..

RnL looks good, cod2 also looks good. lgw looks good but since we are still waiting for 'the big one' ive lost intrest :(

I own them all except Mortyr 2 and Medal of Honor.

But I can't really choose.

Red Orchestra, has the best realistic gameplay and most features.
Hidden and Dangerous 2, is the best tactical shooter (a real Tom Clancy killer)
Call of Duty United Offensive has the best battlefield feeling.
Brothers in Arms has the best graphics but I RO is much better.
Day of Defeat, is a game I play when I'm bored with the rest but its quite unrealistic and its not exactly nice to see either.

Battlefield 1942 is getting too boring, but Forgotten Hope 2 and BF1918/2 on BF2 will kick-ass!!
I don't like Enemy Territory either, but I do like RTCW!

I don't understand why WW1 is so underrated, while The Trenches, Over the Top mod, The Storm of Steel, The Somme Valley, BF1918 and The Great Trench War are great games, both by graphics, concepts and gameplay (of the finished mods then...)

But I do know that: Call of Duty 2, Red Orchestra 4, 1944: D-Day, Day of Defeat: Source, Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood, and Hidden and Dangerous 3 (if it really comes) will kick-ass every other game.

I really like CoD. Now my aim and reactions are coming back slowly so it isn't that frustrating anymore ;)
