Alright, posts thing that from the top of your head about the Pacific front. Here's some. . . facts.

Burma:

1: The Fourteenth Airforce in China that was also known as The Flying Tigers (a guy started the name by painting his plane) had planes that had no bomb bays so they dropped Molotav cocktails(a bottle filled with flammable liquid) from their cock-pits.

2: The Kachins Levies (a tribe in Burma) used these spikes called "Panjis" that were hid in cover that either skewered the soldier who dived into cover. They had grenades with a one second fuse that went off when a soldier set it off by making the string attached to the grenade pull the pin. Another contraption they came up with made a distinctive sound that could be heard for miles when it was set off.

3: Wingate's Chindits were based off his SNS (Special Night Squad) that was the best forces in the world at the time. One American force (Merril's Marauders) that was sent to Burma was modeled off the Chindits to.

4: During the Japanese retreat a Imperial soldier was chained to the ground so he would stay and fight, this was what one Veteran had to say: "We were amazed. Amazed! What kind of enemy were we fighting?"

5: When Japanese translator Matsumoto heard a Japanese officer tell his men they were about to assualt the hill Matsumoto told the Marauders what he heard then they left some panjis in the trenches then withdrew to higher ground, after Matsumoto tricked them into charging the assualt was repelled.

6: Before the attack on Guadacanal Edson told the Marines what the Japanese Propaganda said: "Where are the United States Marines hiding? The Marines are supposed to be the finest soldiers in the world, but no one has seen them yet." A Marine replied "We'll be up your a** in the morning." then everyone who heard him burst into laughter.

. . . . . why are my topics always prone to get views not replies? *long silence*. . . . post something already. . . Hello. . . . for the sake of education post something please! Anyone. . . . .

here's a tip. no one's interested in facts, they're interested in actually debating. facts are boring, listing facts is boring. but debating the relative worth of some commander or the effect of logistics on some campaign or some such topic isn't.

what? that's good, honest advice. facts are stuffy and boring, what can you do with them? history shouldn't be lectured to anyone. history is meant to be debated, to invite people into it. a lecture, a recital of facts doesn't invite. an open invitation to debate with someone (or multiple someones) on, say, the merits of Rommel's commandership during his North African campaign from his arrival to his defeat at El Alamein, however, is interesting because it put personal beliefs (preferably backed up by an educated interpretation of the facts) on the line and forces you to justify your beliefs and have them countered by others with different beliefs and different interpretations of the facts. that is interesting, it actually involves you in the history. listing facts is not and does not.

thank you for your very insightful comment.

I may be an idiot, but you, sir, are a jerk.
these forums are apparently not worth my time since it is inhabited by people such as you.

I would say good bye, but there's no one where worth it.
Oh don't worry, I already deleted my bookmark here, I shan't be returning.

Maybe, but that was hardly a constructive post.

And of course, calling an admin a jerk is never a good thing.
