View Full Version : Nintendo WII Just a show at E3(story inside)
Well, it's actually really good news. All the stuff you saw at E3 about the Nintendo Wii, was basically a show off. It is a modified Gamecube, that's right...a modified gamecube to support these things just for show. The reason why this is good news, is for one the graphics are said to be a lot better coming, they say the graphics card for the wii isn't fully complete yet. The actuall system may also be smaller than what we saw. They don't want to show the final to save it for a surprise!
The box we saw at E3 was a empty box with a light. Wow, this is pretty cool if you ask me, this is building up anticipation. I thought the system we saw at E3 was cool, and apparantly it was fake, they were just showing the games, and controller styles off.
:D Makes me happy.

Wait, so how did they get videos and screenshots of games? And why did they spend the time and money making a design they weren't going to use?
Read it dude. I said all the games were being played on the Gamecube. It was showing how the hardware works and everything. It's going to be a big surprise is my guess. Lots of sales too come... :D

Well I dont think they develop the games on a gamecube :D
Im sure you can also make some screenies and videos with the game running on a PC ;)

Well if it's pre-rendered cinematic footage yes, but what about the in-game footage being shown on e3?

The Xbox 360 was just a PC on E3 last year, the console is likely in development still. Still. . . Viva La Nintendo(whatever that means)!

yeah im really looking forward to the nintendo Wii. Only the name is pretty weird. On E3 i had to think all the time: Are they saying Wii or we? But imagine zelda and wario ware with those controllers that would be really cool :D

Good stuff.
Atleast it means that the games didn't crash, as experienced with the ps3 games quite often at the show.

If you read down a bit in the comments, there is a link (http://zachstroum.wordpress.com/2006/05/14/nintendo-e3-booth-photos/) to this guy's blog who actually set up all the Wiis on display, he even put the demo discs into the units and routed the wires, so it may be modified GameCube hardware inside the box (essentially what the Wii is anyway), but they weren't pulling a switchem like MS last year.
The really funny thing about the xbox 360 last year was that it wasn't just a PC, they had it running on a PowerMac that was hidden under the table
