Alright chaps heres a task for you all.

Find photographic proof that German soldiers carrying the MP44 and MP40, also carried the bayonet on their belts. You would be doing me a great favour. ;)

I did a Google search but I didn't end up with any good proof. I couldn't find any bayonets even on other infantry (Kar98) which I find it a bit surprising because my friend has a Wermacht knife which was worn on a belt.

searched 'mp44 bayonet' and a forum thread (http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=97008&sid=076d13d0fe67f64532ac431bea04188b) popped up.
also on the mp44, wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sturmgewehr_44) mentions something about a bayonet for the MKb 42, which is presumably an early, perhaps prototype version of the mp44

I found nothing for the mp40.

Thanks for trying chaps, but the brief is really to find images of German troops wearing the K98 bayonet and frog on their belts, whilst sporting the MP40 or MP44 and pouches.:)

That last MP40 one was excellent cheers guys.

Basically the K98 bayonet and frog is the sharp pointy thing you stab people with and the frog is the leather holster which allows the bayonet and scabbard to hang from the belt.;)

I'm still looking for photos of MP44 armed soldiers with the k98 bayonet and the frog tho. Lets keep looking. :cool:
