Me and a friend of mine are holding a presentation about the 2 gulf wars at school and I'm supposed to create the worksheet on the 1st war. So since there are quite a few history cracks on the 1944 forums I thought I'd give it a shot and just ask all of you for a reliable source. The page should have a quite clear structure as I gotta have it finished in like 3 hours and Im not going to work my ass of just to get the info ;) Oh yeah and then I gotta photoshop some fancy stuff =D Bring it on lads :D

Sweet. Nice Hand Out.

Always thought that I should learn something about the First Gulf War.

I can check that off my 'to do' list now.

Chars :)

very nice handout!

i don't want to bother you but war is not only about military operations and glory. ok this is only a handout but if i would make a presentation about the iraq-war i would tell something about the civilian casulties and give more background informatiuon about the situation on the gulf - an the realtions between saddam and the us.

also the big public relations efforts of kuwait to get international support are very interessting.

search google or wiki for:

"citizens for a free kuwait" and "Nayirah"

good luck for your presentation!

If Id implement all the stuff evolving around the war itself, the handput would consist of like 10 pages hehe... The presentation is just about the war itself, so I really tried to keep it clean and simple and really just sticked to the rough dates and facts.

after a debate with a friend the other day i was looking up iraqi tank losses during the war.

there was quite a lot of sorces citing different figures.
all in all, i got a figure of
3800-4000+ out of around 4500 tanks destoyed.

Anyone got a more realiable figure? (as well as how many American tanks where lost?)

This is going to sound extremely pedantic.... please don't hate me.... but there were actually 3 gulf wars... and the Iraq Iran War was the first.... but then again most people only recognise the two. but on my history course at school we were told that the Iraq Iran war was technically the first Gulf War.

Pretty sweet handout though... what did you use to make that... It looks pretty professional I couldn't make one that good in a million years...

Did you mention the Highway of Death? That's still one of the craziest videos/images i've ever seen, including both World Wars. Just kilometre after kilometre of blown up cars, trucks, tanks with rotting carcasses in their.

That's what Wikipedia's for, and I see it worked:p
Very well made handout.

If this is for a class and if you need to cite your sources, DO NOT use Wikipedia. Schools of just about any kind heavily frown upon Wikipedia. Sure, a lot of it might be true and from other reliable sources, but they still heavily dislike it.

It's been said that Wikipedia is just as good as the Encyclopedia Brittanica, and its not like Wikipedia isn't heavily moderated for vandalism, neutrality breaches, and the like. The only problem is that you shouldn't use any encyclopedia on a paper, especially in college.

Try to never use an internet source where you can find books. Actual books, not encyclopedias. More often than not encyclopedias are canned information. The internet does not have the wealth of information that most people assume it does. And even still, most information is not referenced, which you should never use academically.

We were supposed to use books as sources, but that didnt go for our group, cause there apparently is too few literature on the topic. (Now dont bash me if thats wrong, my teacher said that and Im happy she did... Shes dumb anyways haha)
