There is a lot of content in this demo. dling it right now ill try it out later. post your thoughts. I wasnt to eager for this game to come out, not too interested. I will see if those feelings were justified after a test run.
"Five singleplayer levels and two multiplayer levels."

looks interesting but not my sort of game
I read the preview on Gamespot, perhaps I shall DL it later
I do like this portal idea though!
I played through it, and let me tell you if you have motion sickness this came is like bound to give it to you... The portals are really cool, and trippy. You go through like box portals where when you see it, you see the other side of the room, you go through it, than turn around and the portal you just came out of is a completely different area. It's really cool how they did it, very well done.
But, what I mean by the motion sickness is the part where you can walk on the ceiling and it turns so much, and all these different angles, it will get you dizzy, but I think the game will be worth it...it was a lot of fun.

Now this is a game I look forward to.
Not so much the theme, aliens have been beaten to death almost as much as WWII in games and the graphics are nothing to boast of either (Quake 4 with some extras here and there). The gameplay is what makes this game awesome. At first I didn't buy into the whole portal/gravity stuff when I heard about it, but let me tell you this is some good stuff. Not just a new twist on FPS's this is amazingly fun and cool at the same time. The portals are moderately "nifty", probably my favorite part is that there isn't a load time for them. Seamless exit and entry is always fun, plus they've done cool things with them like Apex mentioned. It's always great when you go through a portal only to end up on the roof of the previous room.
The gravity is what really hooked me though... Really why didn't anyone think of this before?! It's some crazy stuff but so damn fun when your walking on the wall or ceiling of a room full of baddies.. Plus walking on the ceiling of a room that you had just previously traveled normally on. Sometimes you don't even recognize the room but once you get used to it you see it in all it's glory. People aren't kidding either, this could probably very easily get somebody sick as the main character did... ;)

Whats the game story?
Oh it's a real classic. You are a Cherokee native who while attending a local reservation bar is abducted by aliens along with your girlfriend, grandfather and some random guys. Very original if you ask me!:D Well we know the story is not he game's strong point..:p

lol that made me laugh .... so i guess then you go kick some alien scum rear ends to save your friends and get back to the bar?

Oh you are also suffering an identity crisis and initially are rejecting your cherokee heritage and the old ways your grandfather is always harping on about.
Then you start to learn the true meaning of being cherokee and that you can leave your body as a spirit to pass through to areas you can't normally reach to disable forcefields, open doors, turn machines on/off and attack enemies with a spirit bow (recharged by absorbing the spirit of enemies you kill)
When you die you enter the spirit plain and must kill the spirit wraith things around you to regain energy to re-enter your physical body as well.
So whoever came up with the game concept is a master of negotiation in being able to sell the idea to someone willing to fund the project.
The end result works but the ideas are all pretty weird and original.
It isn't a reinvention of the FPS by any means, but it does add a bunch of new and original ideas into a tired genre. Once you realise that when on the roof/ceiling you can't just look ahead for enemies but they can and will be anywhere on any surface it makes the game much more interesting.

Whats the game story?
Who cares? Brainless shooters are supposed to be.... brainless! We all need a bit of brainless shooters. Good for blowing off steam.

No you die, but you have to fight spirits to come back to life and carry on from where you left off. Not much different from hitting quicksave all the time, also when you come abck to life your health is low so you are vulnerable, so it's not a get out of jail free card by any means

I liked the portal idea and how they implemented into the game, but I didn't favor anything else except for the idea of the scope laching onto your eye for that one weapon.

I dunno. I found it rather enjoyable. The gravity changing was rather fun, too.

Not much different from hitting quicksave all the time
That's exactly why they said they put it in. It saves having to load the save point over and over again plus it adds a mini-game.

Northerly, don't ever let a narratologist catch you saying something like that again, professional or otherwise:cool:
The SP was awesome, I just wish they sold the story, especially in the beginning, without the unsolicited player chat. If you have a first person character talking, the player is the one who should initiate it, not some scripted sequence. The story itself, though, is very good. The main character is really no one special in a massive alien abduction(and probably invasion) story.
The combat, on the other hand, is awesome. Melee weapons leave bloodstains on the weapon, the gravity plating is very disorienting, and the Spirit World concept is very well done.
People have said that MP is crap, but I rather like it, but I like it for what it is. Its Quake 3 with wormholes and gravity manipulation.
