I have played it... but not much... too few servers and I'm more of a WWII guy.... the problem with the mod was, that it could bring the feeling of "going over the top"...

Never played Battlefield 1918 because I dont have BF1942.
The Trenches is a pretty good mod, but I dont play it anymore because I'm waiting for the new version.

I don't exactly got the Over The Top feeling too when it comes to this mod.
But, its because there is no teamwork, because of the BF1942 gameplay.

But BF2 has proven itself to be a great teamplay game, and with multiple squadleaders (Officer-class with pistol, whistle, flare gun and sabre) you can dominate the trenches effectively with squads.

Commanders will have to ability to call in strikes, by Big Berthas, French Grand Canons or whatever.

Trust me its going to kickass...

If you haven't you should really try Major Release (MR) 2.0.
It's like going from 0.6 to 0.7 in Forgotten Hope...

Yes and alot of things are based on Forgotten Hope.
Frontline 1918 (the modteam of BF1918) and Forgotten Hope team have a deal with eachother.

They switched the Flamethrower code with Frontline 1918 and they got the improved Luger and Ruby in return...

It about realism and fun.
But the Battlefield 1942 is too limited and I think that what they have done so far is shockingly great.

Can't wait for BF1918/2, Forgotten Hope 2 and Frontlines 1939-1945...
Also waiting on The Trenches 1.1, Over The Top, The Storm of Steel, Resistance and Liberation and The Somme Valley...

The thing that puts me off is that no one charges or anything, it's mostly sniping matches and every map has like 20 tanks on it lol

The thing that puts me off is that no one charges or anything, it's mostly sniping matches and every map has like 20 tanks on it lolHow can there be sniper matches when only 2 snipers are allowed and the sniper rifle sucks (I know as being frequent sniper in games, but not anymore in BF1918).

They deliberately stopped sniping because in WW1 only a handful of people where snipers.

Also the official limit of tanks in every map is 2 Landships and 3 FT-17's or other small units...

Charges aren't made because of the so-called Teamwork unfriendly and hostile gameplay of BF1942.
BF1942 was created for fun and wasn't for realism and stuff.
Hard to imagine but it was especially made for fun.
Look at FH, also no teamwork...

It just the fact that we all have to be patient and wait for the mods to come out on BF2.

i think the 1918 on bf2 will have more team work because of the squad thing bf2 added. like i already said the maps should be abit smaller (bigger than hl1 tho) & lots of ppl playing. i team charges 1 team defends :cool:

The word Panzer wasn't used until 1918, where the name Beutepanzer (Captured tank) was used.

Tank was codename later it was called to Panzer (Armour).

Sorry, don't wanna revive the thread but they have a fully functioning BF2 mod running!

Without the dynamic shadows and high-res textures yet but it looks promising...
Its gonna be so great, and I believe they will be one of the first BF2 mods being released :D:D...

Unless some other mod with only 1 map is going to be released :S
