The title says it all. Everything and anything about it!

Mainly we want to start a 1944 "clan" or just group that plays real games of OFP weekly or however often. Anyone interested? So let the discussion begin!:D

I got my GOTY copy off ebay for around 12 bucks, still sealed and everything.

If you get this thing started, I'd love to join y'all in the near future. Unfortunately, I'm a little too busy right now.

It looks like it's not even supported for XP, did they put out a patch or does it work with XP also?

Most people play those small stink'n CS type run and gun maps online .... I cant stand those I would rather have a nice open map or a large city where my rife can actually be used

Well if enough people are interested we can probably get a good co op game going. The guys over at the Red Orchestra forums did it fine:

http://www.redorchestragame.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11

I don't think they've organized a game in a very long time though..:p

So if you are interested just say so and we will see how many people we can get. It could be neat to play FDF WWII just to keep in tune with "1944".:D

To be honest I haven't played Operation Flashpoint in ages, but i've got the original version (not goty) and the gold upgrade (with additional vehicles etc) but I haven't got the resistance pack. So I guess I'm buggered until I buy that? :(

Having a good OFP game sometime would be a great idea. OFP is an amazing game, and probably the most community based game ever.

Sweet, thanks man. I did the dirt cheap shipping, but hopefully it won't take too long.

Anyone know if there are many servers online in the US?

Cheers

Yeah there are some, but even non US servers play fine for me (I am in the US) so you shouldn't have too much of a problem. Except for finding a *good* server.. meaning one without addons that you've never heard of or some retarded "deathmatch" map. I don't know how the server system works can we just make our own or do you have to pay for them?

I am dying to play a good long co-op game!:D

Is there an online server browser I could look at before I get the game, maybe All Seeing Eye supports it?

I was just looking at the FFUR 2006 Total conversion Pack 2.0 last night, looks pretty cool.

We need a program we all use so we can contact each other to get games sorted.

I prefer X-Fire myself.

Can anyone host a server for us maybe weekly? And if we could have a teamspeak/ventrilo or just use ingame mics that would be good.

Also it's not a clan its just us 1944er's getting together to play some OFP!:D

Yeah after a couple days I am really tired of the game tbh. :(

It's got a great idea and features but it's way to outdated for me to really get into it, maybe if I had gotten it when it came out it would've been better. :D

Oh well. Armed Assault here I come! More like 1944 here I come but either way.

I really want to try OFP for PC but I don't know anyone who has it :( . I rented it for XBox last week and I must tell you, as I have discovered countless times in the past, first person shooters are not designed for consoles. I got almost nothing out of the game because of the weak controls and how difficult it is to accurately wield a weapon with a tiny joystick. I ended up running around the map shotting at my own teammate because trying to suceed weas so boring.

On the other hand, it seems like the kind of game that would be loads of fun if played properly. That's why I want to try it for PC so badly, get a feeling for the real game rather than the cheap console adaption.

So if I see it for sale anywhere cheap, I'll get it and join the OFP cult and play some games with you guys :p .

I reccomend we all use ECP 1.085, if Jesus played a mod, he would play that :D

Or mabye we could play the new lib mod? Or BAS? BAS is good and the filesize isnt HUGE. You guys should come and play on our ofp.info server, where we run BAS Mod. Great stuff!

Anyone know if theres a high-res mod or anything that can increase the graphics
DXDLL (http://operationflashpoint.filefront.com/file/Kegetys_DXDLL;49296) can improve the graphics a bit, check the link for more info.

There is a thread on the iB Forums containing loads of pics of the various mods which have been made for flashpoint. If certain pics on there aren't an improvement, I don't know what is :D (keep in mind that some will have been edited though). And thanks for the arselick Faunze ;)

I played for about 5 years, give or take.

I've played flashpoint at a friends and found it to be fun but the hitboxes and graphics made me not want to buy it. Anyone know if theres a high-res mod or anything that can increase the graphics and hitboxing?

What's wrong with the hitboxing? It all seems perfectly correct to me. I've opened up the models before anyway, there isnt any 'hitboxing', it's basically just the low-detail LOD thats been sectioned up into various bits.

As far as graphics go, there's now a mod thing called DXDLL that adds DirectX shader 7.0 stuff like reflective water, bloom, etc. It looks really nice.

http://ofp.gamepark.cz/news/pics3/nvg_full.jpg

And when you consider this game was made FIVE years ago, it hasn't aged that badly.

Also there are various mods that upgrade everything with high-res textures/models.

Patience is something you need a lot of with BIS but the result will be worth it. They are another developer that would rather try and get it right the rush it out of the door.

Armed Assault will be a big leap forward from the original OFP and the console version OFP Elite.

I was lucky enough to see it and VBS2 (this is the engine Game 2 will be based on when it is released). These guys have switched around slightly, at first they made a game that was then adapted and develpoed for military use. This time the military is driving the feature list and us lucky public will benifit when the 2nd generation game is released. But for now fingers crossed for a release of Armed Assault this year

Operation Flashpoint 2 (Now known as game two, if you are reffering to BIS still), is a Lonnnnnng way off. I'd wouldn't be suprised if it was 2010.

Armed Assault was originally planned as a kinda OFP 1.5, but lately has developed into its own entity.

As far as Operation Flashpoint Two by Codemasters, there has been no kind of advance or press releases from Codemasters at all. It would be safe to conclude that it is 'on the shelf'.

I remember when OFP2's (now game 2) release date was mid-late 2003. Oh how times change.
