View Full Version : Dark Messiah: OMAM Demo available now!
Yup, the new game using VALVe's source engine just released a demo over on fileplanet, and a few other sites. Wondering why not on steam since it's going to be a full release on there, but oh well.
Be patient, there is a lot of people downloading it right now, it's 1.4gb.
Screenshots
Ok, here are the ones I took at full everything.

Screen2 (http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/296/screen2jl7.jpg) (In this screenshot i'm trying to show that anything you put in the fire can catch fire. Also, with a bow and arrow if you pull a arrow out and you put it in fire and have a fire arrow)
Screen3 (http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/8804/screen3we7.jpg) (Just showing magical abilites, as I just froze the guy, you can also freeze the ground and when they walk over it they sleep and fall in a ragdoll like motion, and than can get back up, pretty cool)
Screen4 (http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/9487/screen4ik5.jpg) (DECAPITATION! what's better?)
Screen5 (http://img280.imageshack.us/img280/5276/screen5uu9.jpg)
Screen6 (http://img280.imageshack.us/img280/9954/bossjo5.jpg) (The boss of that level, but you cannot fight him in this demo, it just shows him. Pretty beasty...)
The demo is a little short it's the first level, but it is totally worth it imho. Even though it may not be long, it shows that it has replayability, great story, and a great combat system. It totally got my money whenever it's available to preorder.

It's fricken amazing actually. It's really fun to run up and kick a guy against a spike wall. I'll take some screenies soon, but i'm cleaning my hd up.

So, this will work like HL2? I can run HL2 on my card maxed out, will this be able to be maxed out, or atleast pretty high? Also, what exactly is it about? Thanks. EDIT:Wow, fileshack mirrors are all at about 20 mins, on average for any other file, its like 20 secs. This must be pretty new and good. I'm downloading
It's great. It's going to require a bit more than Hl2 I think, just becase they did great job on the graphical features.

Yeah it looks amazing, and it has singleplayer too. Is it anything like Oblivion? In one of the descriptions of the game, it said that the demo is only a dungeon, but the game is really big like Oblivion or Morrowind. Is this true?

The call it an 'enhanced' version of the Source engine, any ideas what they enhanced?

Lighting and smoothness I believe, also more particle effects?
Uh, textures, hdr for one looks great. THe ragdolls...everything. I'll go get some screenshots.
Alright, for 56k people perposes i'm gonig to post links to the image rather than posting all images in here, and making it hell for them. So give me a few mins to upload them.

The combat is pretty much everything that Oblivion's combat system wanted to be. Havok physics means nothing if you can't do anything with them, and this was lots of fun.

Thanks man, looks pretty cool. Some of the multiplayer stuff that'll be in the final version sounds pretty interesting:
An addictive online Warfare Battle Mode
- 32 players split into 2 teams
- 5 Complementary classes for each team
- Objective: enter the enemy’s territory and conquer his castle

No problom.
Yeah, the multiplayer seems to me like it'll be great. The only things i'm wondering about is like in Singleplayer how you freeze the ground and they slip and fall in a ragdoll motion, I don't see how some of these will work in the online mode.
I guess we'll find out soon enough though, i'm guessing a Multiplayer demo will be out soon possibly.
There was just a Multiplayer beta released to beta testers over steam yesterday I think.
