Reading a book about it and I was thinking that the French and Indian skirmishes and battles could be really interesting... Line formations too Light cavalry, indians, french, colonist, British
This is just an idea!

I had an overall Horse & Musket idea for a mod, from the 16th century to the 19th.

Yea, I play battlegrounds its not bad but to much like CS but with muskets especially BG1 , BG2 for the source engine is getting much better.

Its good but Source game engine isnt designed for it. I mean the player limit isnt enough to really recreate even a skirmish. This engine would be great for it though. But the only 36 units on the screen may think make much harder as CPU would have to accuratly track many men very close together.

Thats the thing, the French and Indian war had a lot of small skirmishings involving hundreds or even less men. I think it would be perfect for 1944

Unlike Ronan's explanation of cross-sections in 1944, in a Horse & Musket scenario you really would have hundreds of player models on the screen.

Yeah thats what I am saying, not sure what the max about of men could be shown on screen without a real bad drop of framerate

Lordwatson, its not going to have a limit of 36 people on screen, Ronan was just saying that thats about how many you would see. If you are storming Omaha and there are 45 men that you can see infront of you, then there will be 45 men.

There was a lot of usage of cover instead of huge line masses of men. Especially between Colonist and Canadians and Indians

Monongahela did have that, but then you'd have a shitload of trees to render alongside the player models. And battles like Ticonderoga '58 were mostly linear field fighting. And Quebec. Holy shit, Quebec.

Just by looking at a single battalion from the side you would be seeing hundreds of units.

Like Ronan said even if there are a lot of people around you will probably only see 30 when you look
