Well we have to have a vietnam mod at sometime right? this engine seems great for this sort of thing. I would be happy to create models for it. I want to make a mod to really do both sides of that war justice. Would be great dont you guys think?

nam is very hard to recreate. every game that i have played has failed miserably. unless you have some innovative ideas, i would wait to see what other people do and build on their ideas.

I you had to fight in a war, nam would be low on everybodys list. to make that in a game would be hard. people didnt want to fight in those circumstances. you often dont often see the enemy. ambushes are cool, but a lot of waiting. etc

dont mean to rain on your parade. I would love a wicked awsome nam game, but i feel that to get it right is a fine line.

Yeah, really I would want to get across a sort of helpless feeling, because really as an FNG you couldnt do much. More I guess just ti recreate the heli landings and stuff like that, a more cinematic approach. I guess you could make a sort of Machinima (I think thats the word)

The Unsung for Operation Flashpoint is a good recreation for the engine thats avaiable. Check it out! :)

You would really need big, dense forests, too. It just wouldn't work without being able to see more than ten feet of cleared land in a forest.

Well think thats just what would create a sort of feeling that you should feel while in jungle combat Any think any would want to do i would be happy to help on this project just give me the materials i will do it the area of the map well thankfully there is a 160K line running from the south china sea to the laos border that would be perfect the marines and the NVA not the VC fought some hard battles around the hills of Khe Sahn and the highlands it would be a perfect back drop to give and example this was the area where the NVA used armor meaning Tanks to fight it was unheard of untill then

Yeah I liked the sort of combat in We Were Soldiers and Born on the 4th of July, in like the Dusty Highland areas, and the less Jungley areas, though I am sure the game would do well to capture the feeling of close Jungle combat.

I think it would be an awsome mod. But it's true that every vietnam game I have played really wasn't very good. Except for BF:Vietnam, I liked that one.

I would like a 'nam game were you could play as the VC. If I had any sort of programming abilities I would be happy to help, but unfortunatly I don't.

If it's dense forests you want, Speedtree is what you'll want to use and this game uses Speedtree...

I would like a 'nam game were you could play as the VC. In my opinion they were the good guys and America were the bad due to the fact that they supported an awful dictator just because North Vietnam had a different form of government.

If you want to make uninformed (and off-topic) posts in order to start a debate, do it on another forum.

End of discussion.

Well I really wasnt trying to start an argument. I was just giving my reason as to why I would want to play as the vc in a game. Sorry though.

There is two good 'Nam games. The first is BF 1942: Vietnam, and the second one is this other Veitnam game that was really well made. Like if you stepped over a log, you didnt apear on it, or you didnt jump over it, you actually climbed onto it ect. I forget the name though...

I was starting to think about Speedtree, but I always thought of Speedtree as being devoted to... trees, instead of lots of vines and stuff. It would be difficult to include a bunch of physics enabled vines that you have to cut down, though without those vines and foliage, it just wouldn't be the same.
