Don't know if these can be of use to any of you out there, but just found some of these pictures of German paratroopers by accident while looking through my archives. Some of them are well known, and some of them... well... perhaps you haven't seen them all before :D

Some units, British and German where flown in without change in uniforms iirc. For example, British airborne went into Tunisia with there standard uniform iirc, including Dension smocks.
Although as before it may not be the desert :p

actually the Fallschirmjägers that was dropped over Crete wore the same uniforms and equipment which had been used app. a year earlier in Narvik, Norway. Many of them cut off the lower part of the trousers to make shorts, only to find that the nights got pretty cold.

The heavy clothes combined with lack of water caused servere dehydration among many of the soldiers during the battle, and many even drank the cooling water from cars or machine guns!

If this could happen in Crete, I guess it could happen almost everywhere...

Is any of those pics showing them before a jump? I always wondered how the Fallschirmjäger looked like in full jumping gear... In any case I havent seen a single pic of them looking as crammed as the US paratroopers :D

18 troops packed inside one of these,

One would image the picture showing them landing is currently as good as your going to get.
They also, as far as am aware, jumped with no rifles! they went in with pistols. There gear was stored in crates etc which was lobbed out when they made there jump.

They would have to land, locate the box then start fighting

May wanna check out this site, has pics and details of there ops:

First here is the best site i think around on the net on the fallschirmjäger in WW2 http://www.eagle19.freeserve.co.uk/ .

And on the smocks if that is italy or tunisia they did take there smocks with them where ever they went im shure as the weather could change and it was an important part of there uniform(maybe not as much after less para drops, more of a well known identifying item of them later). And they did wear there smocks in the deserts maybe more when it was colder weather though and in tunisia later when in rained and there where storms and cold weather they would be good to have.
I will try and show some pictures too later if i can of what i mean or find some off some sites that i could use as some i may need to ask first i think, but what about books again, i get mixed up with them, like they say that everything is copy writed in them etc..
But can i scan and then put a picture or 2 with out any problems here, like just mention the book its from etc.. and that would be enough?,thanks.

Speaking of Falshirmjagers and that plane. I have a Falshirmjager helmet (replica but it still looks nice) and in the mod Forgotten Hope for BF1942, you can fly that :D.
