The two leaders were worried by the lack of hard evidence that Saddam Hussein had broken UN resolutions, though privately they were convinced that he had. According to the (leaked) memorandum, Mr Bush said: "The US was thinking of flying U2 reconnaissance aircraft with fighter cover over Iraq, painted in UN colours. If Saddam fired on them, he would be in breach."

:eek: ... Bush provoking Iraqis to fire at American spy planes bearing UN markings? I'd love to hear some of your comments on this!

Edit - I must add that this is quite old news, just wanted to bring it up.

Heh...It just proves that there are no clean wars fought out of compassion to the opressed and there are no honest politics regarding wars...

It's a damn shame to know. But it only makes an addition to the whole "picture" of the matter, you know...
