Are there Iron Sights, HUD, Visual Aids?
Iron Sights
Yes Iron Sights feature in the game, but they are not represented as a 2D Sprite. The weapons you are holding are the same weapons that are used for Iron.
In 1944 we simply position the camera between the eyes of the unit. All animations are then developed to look and feel how they should in real life. You will see your arms, chest, legs, feet and even at points your shoulders. As you control your unit, you will get a very unique sense of immersion into the game, and have total control over how and what you see.
With this in mind when handling your weapon, you are raising your weapon from varying positions and is completely within your control. So you can have your weapon hanging loosely point to the ground and then quickly raise it to a full on aim position. A minor adjustment of your head position and you are ready to take the shot.
1944 allows you the player to adjust your stance, your arms and head to ensure that you have control over your shot. Gone are the days where luck and random elements factor into shots, every bullet that you shoot is directly related to how you have handled your shot.
We will release videos to illustrate these features in the near distant future.
HUD
Sorry but there is none, you must remember your orders, count your bullets, and physically grab your gear.
The closest thing to a HUD you will see is the context sensitive menus that you will use to gain access to elements within the game.
If you want to know what gear you have, then you look and at what you have, you inspect your backpack, you check what you have clipped to yourself.
If you want to know how many bullets you have fired you need to count, and remember. Or you can inspect the clips. If you want to combine clips then you do so by moving bullets from one clip to another (or from one magazine to another).
There is no HUD in 1944 because everything you need to know can be found out visually, simply by looking, or by relying on your own mind and training that the game will give you.
Visual Aids
Again sorry but these will not feature in the game, you are on your own here. If your unit has been lucky enough to be equiped with a map or a note pad you can use them, but otherwise you better get use to it.
