Will X be in the game?
Where X refers to a certain feature, object or unit.
Research is king!!
So if our research indicates it then it goes into the game. So the next time you are wondering will a certain unit, certain weapon or vehicle be in the game. Do a quick bit of research (google and wikipedia are not always reliable sources), if that research indicates that it was in Normandy during Operation Overlord then there is a good chance it will feature in the game.
World Properties
Every care has been given to ensure that everything within 1944 has a place and a function. You will never stumble across something just because the level developers thought it would be cool to have them there. They are there for a reason and that is to immerse the player into the world. Towns and Villages have shops, pubs, bakeries and the other amenities indicated by our research (again research is king), farms are fully functional and treated as such.
Wood, Metal, Stone, Plastic, Water, Sand, Mud all have the properties you would expect it is these properties that ensure that the world is maintained at a realistic level. Driving throguh mud not only plays the correct audio, but ensures the vehicle acts and behaves as if it were driving over mud, do the same over sand and it behaves accordingly.
Objects within the world also have properties to reflect their real world counterparts, glass is see-through, fragile and sharp when broken. Wood is stiff, hard but can be broken with the correct forces. Grenades have an explosive force that interact with the objects around it with the expected force, this force causes the objects to react, sending debris and shrapnel flying.
Every object in the game has properties, it has a function and are attempting to closely mimic it's real world counter parts as closely as we can within the bounds of the game engine and processing times allowed.
So when you want to know how something will act, or will it be in the game. Simply research it and understand that it will function as closely as it's real world counter part within the bounds of the game Engine.
