An elderly Iraqi woman shows two bullets which she says hit her house following an early coalition forces raid in the predominantly Shiite Baghdad suburb of Sadr City.

This photo is from Agence France-Presse/Wissam al-Okaili.

Shocking.

Were these bullets thrown at her, or were they fired from a slingshot?

reminds me of the movie where the guns shot out shells....with the missile still attached into them. It was a mistake by the special effects guys x)

Polished? Photoshopped? The round on the left looks to me like a 5.56x45mm, it's not Coalition ammunition though, lack of a green or red tip.

Actually they both look like 5.56x45mm rounds, the one on the right has light reflecting off of it coming from the left, whilst the round on the right does not.

FAKE.

I think you are missing the point (correct me if I'm wrong)

She says her house has been hit by those bullets, but the cartridge (i think that is the name) is still attached to it, that means they haven't been fired yet.

New theory: She whacked the attacker in the face with the Koran, and then left of with his amunition.

No I get it, my post only furthers your argument.

Here's some pictures of the rounds I have.

The green tipped ammunition is the 5.56x45mm NATO M855 rounds used in basic infantry rifles of most Coalition forces, as well as the FN Minimi/M249/L110A1/L108A1/F89/Mk46. The ammunition that isn't color tipped are Australian surplus 7.62x51mm NATO M80 rounds used in the L96A1, M40A3, M24, M14DMR/M21, FN FAL/G3, FN MAG/M240, Mk48, M134, etc.

I have polished one round of each caliber using Nevr-Dull. All of the 5.56x45mm rounds have been polished about a month ago so they don't have the full dirty look of what you would find in a new ammo can.

7.62x51mm NATO M80 The left round is polished, next to three "out-of-the-can" rounds.

5.56x45mm NATO M855 The round on the left is the one I polished today, next to three of the other rounds I polished a month ago.

Four rounds of 7.62x51mm on a five round stripper clip.

Seven rounds of 5.56x45mm on a ten round stripper clip. These can be loaded directly into an M16 magazine by using an adapter made by GG&G.

Stripper clips beside each other to show size differences.

Again, stripper clips shown together for size comparison. Some of you may recognize the hat.

Thus the picture of the old lady is fake or the whole deal was a photo-op by some random people with a weird objective.

Another theory is that the ammunition could've been from the contractors who brought or are supplied the ammunition from some other than a NATO plant; likely made by Winchester, Remington, or WOLF brands. It is possible that they got ambushed, had to get out of the vehicles, a weapon jammed, operator threw out the faulty round and continued.

I remember reading this somewhere, don't think it was on this forum though, thought it would be suitable for this thread...

"Police in Iran are reported to have taken 14 squirrels into custody - because they are suspected of spying."

"A Foreign Office source told Sky News: "The story is nuts.""

The pic has been moved/deleted from Yahoo, but Getty Images has it with a retarded "correction" Click Here (http://editorial.gettyimages.com/Search/Detail.aspx?axd=DetailPaging.Search%7C1&axs=0%7C76111535%2c76086747%2c76086723%2c76086714% 2c76086665%2c76086642%2c76086555%2c76086542%2c7608 6505%2c76086493%2c76086451%2c76069375%2c76064777%2 c76064751%2c76064532%2c76064529%2c76063972%2c76063 801%2c76097836%2c76097821%2c76058227%2c76058113%2c 76058097%2c76058076%2c76058072%2c76058051%2c760580 35%2c76058033%2c76058029%2c76058027%2c76058157%2c7 6097905%2c76097900%2c76033478%2c76033471%2c7603311 2%2c76032221%2c76032214%2c76031810%2c76031783%2c76 031782%2c76031775%2c76031651%2c76032203%2c76031715 %2c76031703%2c76031696%2c76031663%2c76019970%2c760 19870%2c76019856%2c76019851%2c76019831%2c76019064% 2c76019042%2c76019036%2c76019029%2c76019004%2c7601 8957%2c76018928&id=76111535)

They either love the spotlight or they want whatever compensation would be involved. Kinda like those people in Korea who threw themselves in front of jeeps and ambulances to make money from the US Army.
